Defining Bison Tough
People often ask us, "What does it mean to be part of 'The Herd'?"
Common misconception is that The Herd is a group of people who ride motorcycles and wear Bison gear. In actuality, we define The Herd as anyone wearing Bison gear or apparel who has a passion for riding or simply a passion for the Bison brand! You don't have to be a racer, a trackday rider, or even own a motorcycle.
A great example of the latter would be Judy Balisalisa. Wife of Bison Sponsored Rider, Amos Spurgeon, Judy is in her 12th year of active duty in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant (SSG), in addition to being a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Recently, Judy graduated from University of Texas' El Paso College of Nursing with honors, making her a full RN BSN on her way to being commissioned an Officer in the Army's Nursing Corps. And although she doesn't ride, she happens to spend a lot of time at the track, being the best cheerleader for Amos's racing efforts that one could ask for!
With all of that being said, you already know Judy is a beast! Unfortunately, in February 2024, Judy had an episode that would put her will to the ultimate test and, change her and Amos's lives forever. A near-death experience and subsequent visit to the ER revealed that she had brain cancer. Judy underwent a successful surgery, but she has required chemo and radiation treatments over the past year.
Now, if you've followed our brand long enough, you've likely seen us use the term "Bison Tough". We originally used this term to refer to the durability of our gear, but over time it's evolved into a descriptor for members of The Herd.
As our Bison family has followed Judy's journey on social media, two things always stood out to us:
1. These two are always smiling and positive, no matter WHAT!
2. Judy loves her some Bison apparel, especially on treatment days. (Just look at these photos!)
Feeling inspired by her positivity and her love for the Bison brand, we created a special apparel line in her honor and mailed a few goodies her way! As an added bonus, she wouldn't have to steal Amos's Bison apparel as often! 😄
We're happy to report that Judy is expected to have a full recovery, but she still has a tough fight ahead. By purchasing items from this apparel line, you're helping support for a great person who continues to serve our great country with a smile in spite of extreme hardship. We think that defines Bison Tough.
