2021 Bison Track Sponsored Rider, Emily Schmal

Favorite Track: The only track I've had the chance to ride is The Ridge in Shelton, WA, so I'll say it's my favorite for now. Hoping to try out at least another local track this year.

How did you get into motorcycles? It seems cliche, but my husband introduced me. I rode on the back of his bike for a couple years and then one weekend he surprise-signed me up to get my endorsement. Two and a half months later we took a multi-day trip over the North Cascades here in WA. Track days became an interest as a way to learn more and get more comfortable on my bike, I didn't anticipate loving it as much as I do now.

Why do you ride? I love trying new things (I hope that never stops). Since I'm still relatively new to this sport, I have a lot to learn, but I love those "ah-ha" moments where a theory on paper suddenly makes sense ON the bike. Riding is also just plain fun, and the fact that I get to to this with my husband is even better. I'm excited for the day our son can join my husband and I on the track!

Career Highlight: I finally caught the big bikes! Being on a little bike, I'm used to getting passed by the big bikes on the straights. But last year I finally started catching them in the corners. Definitely a highlight of my year.

Favorite Bike to Ride: I love my R3 for the track but my Monster 800 is a pretty lady.

How do you prepare to go on the track? Um....3 shots of espresso, a few deep breaths?? While that's not far from the truth, I usually have 2 things I'm focusing each time I go out on track that I mentally prepare for. Having a good group of friends lining up with me at the start also helps.

Goals for 2021: There's a line that says "wait until you see God, then brake." I'm more like in the parking lot of the church and breaking - maybe this year I'll at least make it in the building and then break. ;)

Why do you choose Bison Track? Like many motorcycle related things - my husband introduced me to Bison. But I've been completely impressed with the quality of their suits and the quality of their customer service. I'm excited to be supported by such an awesome company and group of people.
